Specialist expertise
With over 25 years’ forensic accounting experience, Kate is regularly instructed as an expert witness and adviser. She has given evidence on over 25 occasions in the High Court, County Court, Employment Tribunal and at international arbitration, both as a party-appointed expert and single joint expert.
Business valuations: Kate regularly undertakes business valuations in the context of shareholder, matrimonial, M&A and commercial agency disputes. She is experienced in more complex valuation methodologies such as those required in the valuation of early-stage businesses, interests in private equity and fund structures and share options/growth shares.
Commercial disputes: Kate regularly quantifies loss of profit following breach of contract and business interruption or as a consequential loss. Kate has experience working within most industry sectors and takes a hands-on, pragmatic approach to her work, focusing on how to achieve the desired outcome at a reasonable cost.
Transaction disputes: Kate acts as an expert determiner and adviser in completion accounts and earn-out disputes. Her direct experience of M&A transactions and related disputes means she is also well placed to advise on the financial and commercial terms of sale and purchase agreements before signing.
What sets her apart: Kate’s reports are written to be understood by non-accountants, and she explains complex financial issues in plain English. Instructing parties report that her expertise, thoroughness, speed and pragmatism are invaluable. Kate is robust in her opinions but willing to listen and make concessions where appropriate.
Kate works with businesses of all sizes, from owner-managed businesses to large multinationals and public sector organisations.
About Kate
Kate trained as an accountant at Deloitte and spent 11 years with their forensic services group. She moved to establish and grow a forensic accounting team at a small firm close to her home over a period of nine years before joining KR8.
Kate is married with two daughters and lives in Surrey. When not working she enjoys running, swimming and playing the clarinet in an amateur orchestra.
