Richard has 25 years’ experience working as a forensic accountant and specialises in expert witness and dispute advisory work. Richard’s experience covers shareholder disputes, partnership disputes, breach of warranties claims, business valuations, loss of profits claims and fraud investigations. Richard has spent nine months on secondment at the Serious Fraud Office.
In one of Richard’s recent cases, he worked on a matter involving a venture capital fund, based outside of the United Kingdom, which invested in early start-up companies operating in the emerging technology sector, and whether the assets held by the fund had been transferred at an undervalue. The work undertaken involved valuing the investments held by the fund on three separate dates.
Another case that Richard recently worked on was a breach of warranties claim where following the acquisition of a company the buyer discovered that there were issues with the profitability of key contracts which had not been disclosed previously. Our work involved valuing the business if these issues had been known.
Richard also leads the team working on behalf of the sub-postmasters and sub-postmistresses, impacted by the Post Office Horizon IT scandal, to quantify the financial losses they have suffered. The losses calculated includes amounts paid to repay shortfalls, past and future loss of earnings and any loss of capital value in their businesses.
About Richard
Richard attended the University of Kent at Canterbury where he gained a BA (Hons) in Economics. Richard qualified as a chartered accountant at a top 10 accountancy firm and then joined the Forensic Accounting team at another leading accountancy firm. He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and an associate member of The Academy of Experts.
Away from work, Richard enjoys trying to keep fit and watching sport, in particular football. Richard also enjoys walking and especially if it ends in a nice pub or restaurant.
